HOW TO TAKE INSPO + MAKE IT YOUR OWN
I get outfit inspiration from everywhere. It could be a movie, a decade in time or a Tumblr page. But, sometimes you just see someone wearing an outfit and you're like damn... I gotta wear that.
One morning, I was scrolling Instagram, as I do and I came across this photo of Dani Song. I was instantly in love with the outfit. It was simple and relaxed but also interesting and very aesthetically pleasing. I started to research where the pieces were from. I knew that if I couldn't find the exact pieces, it wouldn't be a big deal and I could definitely just pull inspiration and find things that look similar. But lucky me, I found the exact hat and shirt. I then had to complete the outfit and make more me and not so Dani Song.
I paired the look with my every day Ray Ban circle glasses. I'm very comfortable in these and I knew they would look good on my face or tucked into the neck of the shirt. Then I added my normal jewellery, so my plethora of rings, black watch, and black bracelets. This really brought the look together for me. It made the outfit more of an Allegra outfit. Then the question of shoes. I couldn't see what shoes she was wearing in the photo so I had to just imagine. This outfit would have looked really great with white sneakers but I had been wearing my white sneaks a lot and I wanted something different. I ended up pairing it with my black vans and white socks. The black and white tie into the shirt and hat and I thought it brought it all together to make this vibe that I was totally going for. I felt like a skater who sells tickets at a horse race, you feel me?
Anyway, back to my point. It's totally cool to sometimes see an outfit on someone and be like hey I need that in my life. But their style isn't your style and you have to find small pieces or accessories or different styling techniques to make it your own. If not, you're just going to be wearing an outfit that someone else wore and not rocking an outfit that you came up with.
